my garden on june 30th, 2025
in all her glory! i just got back from victoria and came home to the best gift of all, the fruits of my labour. tomatoes = off the charts, lettuce (obviously thriving), peas = finally not dying, carrots, cucumbers, potatoes and more. fuck i love my garden. ava betts' gorgeous mother once said "i hope i never run out of things to do in my garden" and boy i have never resonated with anything more.
HELP ME TOO MUCH LETTUCE HELP ME
i geuinely believe that my hidden purpose in life is to grow lettuce, i have way too much it won't stop. please if you're reading this come pick some up this isn't a joke.
hey if you're wondering whether or not it's a good idea to plant chamomile seeds in your garden, i've been there. i can tell you right now, don't! it's totally taking over my garden and expanding at an alarming rate. good thing i fucking love chamomile.
today i harvested my first batch of kale and lettuce. both plants were suffering and withering away just one week ago, and as if it was overnight, these beauties recovered from their transplant shock and started thriving, salads all summer long!
also happy pride, go kiss some girls and grow some lettuce!
today my garden bore it's first ever fruit. i am unbelievably proud right now and extremely happy about my strawberry. moments after this picture was captured, a bird swooped down and ate the strawberry. hey man, no hard feels. i hope it tasted good?
today me and my dad went to the garden centre and bought a plethora of seeds. plus soil. it was nice to be soil shopping knowing so much about soil. i think i chose a good mixture. we returned to the farm and cleaned out the sugar shack to convert it into a greenhouse. we blasted joan baez and van morrison which attracted my nana and she came down to sing to us while we worked. we planted all our seeds and instructed my grandpa on how to water them while i am grinding out my finals in van and my dad is at work in victoria. my grandparents were really excited about this greenhouse development on their farm.
planted: mint, chamomile, tomatoes (3 kinds), carrots (two kinds), peas, squash (mystery), peppers (3 kinds) and cucumbers.
this morning my nana sent me this gem. my papa (legally blind) mowing the front yard of my camper van. he is truly the best. i'm traveling to the island this weekend to go assess the garden plot, do some tilling and get up to no good. stay tuned.
